Privacy Policy
Effective Date: February 16, 2026
Simulator Arts LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Halal Scanner mobile application. We are committed to
protecting your data. This policy details our compliance with global privacy standards, including GDPR and
CCPA.
1. Information We Collect
Key Principle: We prioritize on-device processing. We do not sell your personal data.
- Device Information: Device model, OS version, and unique identifiers (for analytics and
debugging).
- Approximate Location: Used solely to provide region-specific product data (e.g.,
finding relevant databases for your country). We do not track movement history.
- Camera Data: The camera is used exclusively for scanning barcodes or
text. No video or image data is stored on our servers unless you explicitly submit a "Product
Correction" with a photo.
- Usage Data: Anonymous telemetry (scan counts, crash logs) to improve App stability.
2. How We Use Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Halal Scanner uses AI algorithms (including OCR and ingredient vectorization) to analyze product labels.
- Local vs. Cloud: Basic barcode matching happens on-device. Advanced OCR analysis may
send text snippets to our secure cloud for processing.
- No Personal Training: Your personal images are not used to train our AI models without
your consent.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We share minimal data with trusted partners to operate the App:
- Google Firebase: For analytics, crash reporting, and backend database hosting.
- AdMob / AppLovin: To serve advertisements (for free tier users). These providers may
use advertising IDs to show relevant ads.
- RevenueCat / Stripe: To process subscription payments. We never see or store your full
credit card number.
4. GDPR Rights (European Users)
If you are in the EE/UK, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
- Rectification: Correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure: Request deletion of your account and data ("Right to be Forgotten"). You may
also use our Data Deletion Request form.
- Object: Opt-out of data processing for marketing.
5. CCPA/CPRA Rights (California Users)
Residents of California have the right to:
- Know: Request details on categories of data collected.
- Delete: Request deletion of personal information.
- Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
- Do Not Sell: We do not sell personal data. However, you may opt-out of interest-based
ads via your device settings.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we discover
such data, we will delete it immediately.
